About The Position

This role independently prepares, fries, packages, displays, and stocks deli products while contributing to the store’s financial interests. The associate is responsible for meeting company guest-experience guidelines and complying with safety and food-safety standards. The position may also include tasks in other departments based on customer-experience needs, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

The work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce deli products according to the production planner.
• Package and label deli products according to the program plan.
• Merchandise deli products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
• Stock the backroom with deli products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
• Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
• Notify the Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
• Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
• Follow personal protective equipment and safety guidelines.
• Follow food-safety and cleaning expectations.
• Follow guest-experience guidelines.
• Perform tasks in other departments as assigned based on customer-experience needs.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
