Act in lieu of the regular classroom teacher and perform the duties as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor. This role requires completing the duties and tasks of the absent teacher, preventing students from leaving the room unless absolutely necessary, and checking the class roll at the designated time. The substitute teacher will contact the school nurse if a student needs medical attention and notify the school office of any serious problems experienced during the day. They will assume the same responsibilities as a regular classroom teacher for students, equipment, and other assigned materials, and follow the lesson plans provided by the teacher as closely as practical, maintaining the regular routine of the class. A summary of work covered in each class and other pertinent information will be left for the teacher. The role involves managing classroom behavior to maintain an environment conducive to good learning, notifying an administrator if additional assistance is needed, and abiding by the Substitute Teacher handbook. Flexibility is key, as substitutes may need to cover different assignments based on campus needs. Adherence to all safety procedures and guidelines of the campus is required, along with reporting on time, reporting for any assigned duty, and working through the end of stated sub hours.
