About The Position

The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Degree Auditor. This role, in collaboration with the Supervisor of Degree Audits, reviews and ensures the completion of all degree requirements for each degree candidate prior to the awarding of the degree. The Degree Auditor will audit Degree Progress Reports at the completion of each term to ensure all academic requirements have been met. This position also assists with the planning and setup of fall and spring commencement ceremonies, including assignment of seating cards, commencement programs, honor cords, and processing all student-related commencement fees. Additionally, the role involves working with various academic units across campus to ensure degree requirements are met and assisting with the diploma mailing process, including inventory control. The Degree Auditor performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related work experience.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple departments across campus.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and ability to use Microsoft Word.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. The University will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years experience of working in a higher education environment
  • Experience working with excel spreadsheets and PeopleSoft Student information system.

Responsibilities

  • On behalf of the Registrar’s Office, will audit Degree Progress Reports at the completion of each term to ensure all academic requirements have been met prior to the awarding of a student’s degree.
  • Assists with the planning and setup of fall and spring commencement ceremonies. These responsibilities include assignment of seating cards, commencement programs, honor cords and processing all student related commencement fees.
  • Work in collaboration with various academic units across campus to ensure all degree requirements have been completed prior to awarding the degree.
  • Assist with the diploma mailing process. This includes, the mailing of diplomas and inventory control of items associated with the process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
