The Dedicated Aide provides individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to a student with disabilities in a secure juvenile detention school. Working under the supervision of instructional staff and in collaboration with related service providers, the Dedicated Aide implements accommodations and behavioral interventions identified in the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). The Dedicated Aide promotes student engagement, independence, emotional regulation, and access to instruction while maintaining a safe, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and secure learning environment. Due to the unique nature of a juvenile detention setting, the aide must maintain professional boundaries, collaborate effectively with correctional staff, and consistently support school-wide behavior expectations.
