The Declassification Analyst plays a significant role in helping protect information critical to our Nation’s security. This position requires all new hires to complete and pass a two-week training course that begins on day one of employment. The training course is designed to provide new hires with a full knowledge and understanding of how to independently classify, safeguard, and declassify national security information, including information relating to defense against transnational terrorism. After performing initial reviews for approximately six months, the Declassification Analyst must complete and pass the Department of Energy’s Historical Records Restricted Data Review (HRRDR) training in order to remain a Declassification Analyst. This training teaches non-DOE agency personnel how to classify Restricted Data (RD), Formerly Restricted Data (FRD), and Trans-classified Foreign Nuclear Information (TFNI).
