About The Position

Albertsons Companies is seeking a Decision Scientist to join the Marketing Science Research & Analytics team, reporting directly to a Manager of Analytics. This role will lead complex, high-impact initiatives that shape how we understand marketing performance and quantify incremental value across the retail media ecosystem. You will partner closely with Strategy, Measurement, Engineering, and Senior Leadership to answer critical business questions and influence decision-making through rigorous causal analysis, experimentation, and data-driven storytelling. Our decision scientists work across our full analytics stack (GCP, Databricks, GitHub, etc.) to execute analyses that directly inform both near-term execution and long-term strategic direction. The position is in office 4 days per week and will be based in (Pleasanton CA, Boise ID, Itasca IL, NYC).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or an equivalent STEM degree strongly preferred.
  • 4 plus years of experience in analytics, data science, or decision science roles.
  • Expert-level SQL proficiency and strong experience working with data warehouses (GCP preferred).
  • Advanced Python skills for analytical workflows, modeling, and data validation, with hands-on experience in Databricks environments and version control via GitHub.
  • Proven experience working with large, complex, and imperfect datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to surface insights and integrate recommendations that influence strategic decisions.
  • Strong data visualization and storytelling skills using tools such as Power BI, ggplot, plotly, or similar.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 plus years of experience in Advertising, Media, or Retail Media Analytics.
  • Experience designing experiments or causal inference frameworks.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to independently define analyses and develop lightweight data products with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify high-value business problems and translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for business partners and senior leaders.
  • Design and execute advanced analytical approaches to measure campaign performance, enhance measurement methodologies, and analyze customer behavior trends.
  • Quantify relationships between campaign components (e.g., audience, creative, placement) and Return on Ad Spend (ROAS).
  • Lead the GTM delivery of scalable, insight-driven data solutions in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with Engineering teams to improve data pipelines and reporting infrastructure.
  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence, synthesize stakeholder needs, and proactively define analytical approaches to legacy and emerging challenges.
  • Communicate analytical findings, lead training sessions, and develop client-ready use cases for internal stakeholders.
