About The Position

DeLaSalle is a public charter high school in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri that prepares students to pursue extraordinary opportunities by supporting them with challenging and meaningful real world learning, social-emotional learning, mentorship and personalized future-ready plans for their lives beyond high school. We pride ourselves on cultivating a diverse staff and serving a community made up of 97% students of color, all of whom receive free and reduced lunch. Some of our students come to DeLaSalle not having found success at their previous high school, but we are determined to provide an environment where they can thrive. Requirements

  • At least three years of relevant experience working with students and families from a variety of backgrounds, including urban environments and students at risk of academic failure
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Deep knowledge of restorative practices, Missouri laws and regulations pertaining to charter schools and all aspects of student/family rights in behavior and dismissal proceedings
  • Able and willing to work extended school day hours and extended school year days
  • Effectively prioritizes work and meets deadlines; is organized; manages multiple assignments; follows assignments through to completion; responds quickly to requests for information and assistance
  • Maintains confidential and sensitive information, with respect to both school and student level data and internal staff members

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in teaching, counseling, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build proactive and authentic relationships with students, families and staff
  • Innovate, collaborate on and refine key systems in service of school-wide student culture (Reengagement to school from OSS, Re-entry to class from ISR In School Restoration or time in Kairos, Response to behavior (walkie calls), and In School Restoration system)
  • Develop, enhance, implement, and enforce school protocols and procedures consistently that are aligned with restorative practices and school values
  • Design, source and implement high impact supports and interventions
  • Address behavior concerns and behavior infractions/flags promptly and consistently
  • Ensure follow through and communication to stakeholders on student interventions and consequences
  • Serve as the primary facilitator and driver in conflict-resolution and restorative repair in student to student OR student to staff scenarios
  • Collaborate with students, families, Kairos Team, teachers, the Director of Special Education and school leadership to develop student support plans plans and interventions as needed
  • Coordinate, plan and facilitate Town Halls for Grade Levels, Kairos Team meetings, family meetings, student support meetings and behavior hearings
  • Track, monitor, evaluate and report behavior data in Kairos/Student Life Trackers, Intellispark and Infinite Campus
  • Plan and facilitate student and staff development sessions determined by school needs and areas of focus
  • Additional assigned duties as assigned by the assistant principal/principal
