The Dean of Students is responsible for enforcing guidelines to maintain proper discipline and conduct within the school. This role involves assisting in the development and administration of policies related to student discipline, conduct, and attendance, and effectively communicating these policies to students, staff, and parents. The Dean will also support the Principal with student expulsions, intervene in inappropriate student behavior to foster positive behavioral changes and interpersonal skills, and collaborate with staff to develop effective classroom discipline and organization strategies. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a safe and effective school environment, including assisting with emergency drills and evacuations. The Dean will also contribute to curriculum development, prepare various reports and paperwork, assist in the creation of handbooks, and participate in staff selection and mentoring. Additionally, the Dean will supervise and evaluate assigned staff and support services, work collaboratively to meet the academy's system-wide needs, assist with special events, and oversee the care and management of school facilities and resources. Facilitating communication among personnel, students, and parents to resolve issues and represent the school in community forums are also core functions. The Dean will report maintenance needs to the Principal and perform other duties as assigned.
