About The Position

The position of High School Dean of Students is for the purpose of assisting students in their educational programs when faced with behavioral and attendance problems. This role involves working with high school administration to prevent circumstances that interrupt student's educational progress and responding to student referrals from the teaching facility. The Dean will work with staff members to improve every student's connection to the educational program and develop and coordinate an attendance referral system for high school students. This position requires familiarity with and enforcement of school rules, Administrative Regulations, and Board Policy.

Requirements

  • Proper TSPC Licensure required
  • Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability
  • Skills to appropriately manage personnel and programs, communicate effectively, problem solve.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, educational codes, and district policies, and student and family needs associated with the high school experience.
  • Abilities to sit for prolonged periods, provide direction to others and make independent judgments, keep and maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds, communicate in oral and written form.
  • Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception and accommodation field of vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in a school setting.
  • Ability to speak a second language.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and communicate regularly with students and families in response to discipline and attendance incidents at the high school.
  • Work with the high school administration in preventing circumstances that interrupt student’s educational progress.
  • Respond to student referrals from teaching facility and work with staff members to improve every student’s connection to the educational program.
  • Develop and coordinate an attendance referral system for high school students.
  • Become familiar with and uphold the enforcement of school rules, Administrative Regulations and Board Policy.
