About The Position

The Dean of Library Services provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for Everett Community College’s Library, Media Services, Tutoring Center, and Center for Transformative Teaching. The Dean integrates library and information resources, instructional media, academic support, and faculty professional development into a cohesive learning environment that advances student success.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Education, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in libraries, learning resources, or academic support in higher education.
  • Experience supervising, evaluating, and developing faculty and/or staff.
  • Understanding of current trends and best practices in academic libraries, learning resources, academic support, and faculty development.
  • Knowledge of student-centered approaches to teaching, learning, and student success.
  • Skilled in budget management, supervision, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to lead collaboratively across diverse units and build effective, service-oriented teams.
  • Ability to use data and assessment to drive continuous improvement.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Nice To Haves

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS).
  • Leadership experience at a community or technical college.
  • Experience leading tutoring or academic support programs (e.g., CRLA-certified) and/or a teaching-and-learning or faculty development center.
  • Experience with open educational resources (OER), instructional design, or learning technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction for the Library, Media Services, the Tutoring Center, and the Center for Transformative Teaching.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty librarians and staff across the units.
  • Develop and manage the department’s budgets, grants, technology, and facilities.
  • Establish goals, policies, and procedures that align the units with College priorities and student success.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and service-oriented culture across the department.
  • Oversee library collections, reference, and information literacy instruction.
  • Direct media services, including instructional media, classroom technology, and media production support.
  • Ensure student and faculty access to information resources and learning technologies.
  • Guide the evaluation, adoption, and assessment of library and media technologies.
  • Oversee the Tutoring Center in delivering high-quality academic support that improves student persistence and completion.
  • Oversee the Center for Transformative Teaching to advance inclusive, evidence-based teaching and faculty professional development.
  • Integrate academic support, library instruction, and teaching practice to strengthen student learning.
  • Support faculty in instructional design and the use of open educational resources (OER).
  • Collaborate with deans, faculty, and student services to align resources with instructional needs.
  • Support the goals and operations of the department, division, and College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations and meet the needs of the campus.
