About The Position

KIPP Capital Region is seeking a Dean of History for grades 9-12. This role is responsible for the instructional coaching of teachers, ensuring academic outcomes for students, and supporting the culture, climate, and social-emotional learning and development of high school students. KIPP Capital Region is part of a national network of high-performing public charter schools committed to creating joyful, academically excellent, and prepared students with the skills, ability, and confidence to pursue their paths to college, career, and beyond. Located in Albany and Troy, NY, KIPP Capital Region serves over 2,500 students in grades K-12 across seven schools. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of 2+ years as a Lead Teacher with a proven record of results.
  • Proficiency in managing a team, coaching teachers, and/or designing curriculum, preferably in the charter, private, or public school environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
  • Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1+ years preferred coaching teachers in academics, culture & climate.
  • Experience developing academic policies, systems, and school-wide analysis and data collection preferred.
  • Prior experience working in urban schools and communities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support and coaching to teachers to ensure each student reaches their academic potential.
  • Support academic operations related to curriculum, assessments, and the school’s instructional guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning team and the school leadership team to make instructional decisions based on student performance and develop teachers.
  • Cultivate a standards-based, data, and results-oriented culture.
  • Support curriculum development using the backward design model and advise on scope and sequence based on essential content knowledge that addresses local, state, and national standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on the current needs of the school.
