About The Position

The Dean of Career & Technical Education Campuses provides administrative supervision and oversight for Career Technical Education (CTE) instructional programs at the Ag Farm, Frost CTE Center, CTE programs at New Tech Odessa, and Sewell Auto Tech. This role provides leadership in teaching excellence and student learning with the goal of student success and continuous improvement of CTE programs. The Dean manages, coordinates, develops, and executes a variety of projects related to CTE and related programs, and is responsible for all administrative, academic, and fiscal matters of assigned programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from accredited university.
  • TEA (Texas Education Agency) Administrator Certification (or in the process of obtaining this certification).
  • Professional experience related to Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret College, Career, and Military Readiness Indicators
  • Manage and lead professional learning opportunities
  • Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of and success in implementation of current Career and Technical Education instructional practices and assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional leadership of CTE instructional programs at the Ag Farm, Frost CTE Center, CTE programs at New Tech Odessa, and Sewell Auto Tech.
  • Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
  • Organize bus transportation in collaboration with the Transportation Department to bus students from their home campus to the assigned CTE campus.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed, and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
  • Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Responsible for substitute coverage for CTE classes.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct Professional Development programs for counselors and special population teachers.
  • Conduct TTESS (Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System) walk-through observations of CTE staff, as required.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with students, parents, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Handle any disciplinary issues that may arise.
  • Assist and support teachers in the delivery of a strongly aligned district curriculum to target special population students.
  • Analyze special population student achievement data, in partnership with Career and Technical Education instructors, to insure successful learning outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with CTE instructors, campus administrators, and community advisory committees.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the 504, Special Education, and Bilingual/ESL offices.
  • Monitor, report, and track the progress of special population students.
  • Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Work with CTE and special education teachers to modify curricula, as needed, for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP) and/or 504 plans.
  • Model the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process.
  • Participate in district training along with study groups emphasizing curriculum standards and assessment issues.
  • Be a positive role model for faculty and staff; support the mission of the school district.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other supplemental instructional materials for special population students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Career and Technical Education.
