About The Position

Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Business, Arts, Communication, and Social Sciences is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and leadership for the academic disciplines within the assigned division. Major responsibilities include planning and implementing all facets of instruction as one member of the college’s academic leadership team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, plus two years full-time administrative or teaching experience is required
  • Strong computational ability to include mathematic calculations and analyzing data
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and electronic files, to produce error-free final products, and to manage time and output
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness
  • Positive attitude
  • Regular, prompt & reliable attendance
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, individually and as a team member
  • Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. driver's license and good driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Community college teaching and/or personnel leadership experience is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers, students, business contacts and at various levels from front-line to administration

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate IWCC’s core mission, vision and values
  • Report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, regularly providing information on assigned responsibilities
  • Develop goals, objectives, activities, budgets, operational procedures, and program and course offerings in accordance with assigned programs and services
  • Serve on the Instructional Council as a member of the college academic leadership team
  • Maintain positive professional working relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide leadership and supervision to assigned faculty, and professional and classified staff
  • Assist with the planning and execution of professional development activities for faculty and academic staff
  • Actively recruit, hire, and retain faculty and academic staff within the assigned division
  • Evaluate and document performance of divisional personnel
  • Represent the College at local and state meetings as requested
  • Provide leadership for the evaluation and revision of curricular activities within the division
  • Provide required departmental and division reports including academic, financial, personnel, and facilities and equipment analyses on a regular basis
  • Develop and supervise the annual schedule of courses in partnership with the other academic divisions
  • Manage divisional and departmental budgets
  • Collaborate with other departments and divisions within the college to enhance and fulfill the college mission
  • Provide leadership and working knowledge of external program accreditation processes for designated programs in the division; monitor activities to assure compliance with accreditation standards and processes
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of area business and industry as needed
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of articulation agreements relevant to the division
  • Assure that the assessment of academic achievement (student learning outcomes) is completed on an ongoing basis and that the data from such evaluation processes is utilized for enhancement of student learning
  • Coordinate and oversee the use of program advisory committees in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs within the division
  • Assist with grant writing and administration for grants pertaining to division programs
  • Provide leadership and assistance for the academic advising of all students assigned to faculty within the division
  • Assist in recruiting and retention of students by managing and supervising the departments’ collaboration efforts with other departments and divisions of the college
  • Participate in college activities including athletic and fine arts events, program-specific activities, fund-raising events, college commencement ceremonies, etc.
  • Demonstrate an active intellectual curiosity geared to continuous improvement of the learning experience within areas of responsibility
  • Adhere to college policies and procedures
  • Make decisions in matters of significance
