About The Position

The Dean of Academics & Accreditation serves as a member of the school’s administrative team collaborating on curriculum, academic programs, and student academic progress through the strategic use of assessment data. This role partners with school leadership to support the integrity of graduation requirements and ensure effective implementation of state testing & program compliance. The Dean is committed to Christ-centered education and ensures that all academic programs align with the school’s mission, biblical worldview, and standards of excellence. In addition, the Dean of Academics & Accreditation leads and manages the school’s accreditation process through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and alignment with accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in education, leadership, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience; leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with accreditation processes, preferably with ACSI, including reporting and continuous improvement cycles.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build teams, foster collaboration, and cultivate a Christ-centered school culture.

Responsibilities

  • Academic Leadership: Collaborate with principals on the mapping of K-12 academic programs. Ensure compliance with all state requirements and accreditation standards. Maintain awareness of evolving state and federal education requirements. Collaborate with the Principals on curriculum alignment and academic rigor. Monitor and evaluate student academic performance and achievement. Collaborate on instructional improvement initiatives and long-range academic planning. Review grading policies, academic integrity, and the maintenance of student academic records.
  • Curriculum & Instruction: Oversee faculty certification (ACSI) and licensure. Promote effective assessment practices and compile and analyze data to support data-informed instructional strategies. Develop and expand academic programs, including advanced coursework, dual enrollment, and college readiness initiatives. Coordinate course offerings, master scheduling, and academic planning. Teach a limited number of classes, as needed.
  • Academic Planning & Administration: Collaborate with principals on the development of the master schedule and student course assignments (especially grades 6–12) to ensure alignment with instructional needs and student placement priorities. Collaborate with administration on strategic academic planning and school improvement initiatives. Provide leadership and administrative oversight for summer school and supplemental academic programs, including IGNITIA and IXL, ensuring effective implementation, student progress monitoring, and alignment with school-wide academic objectives.
  • Admissions, Graduation & Student Academic Recognition: Support admissions by providing and coordinating materials for testing, placement assessments, and academic screening for prospective students. Provide academic advising and guidance for students/families as needed Collaborate with principals to monitor and support students on academic probation, including progress tracking and intervention planning. Collaborate with the principal regarding graduation-related academic responsibilities, including verification of diploma requirements, and student eligibility. Coordinate the annual graduation ceremony in collaboration with school leadership Ensure the preparation, accuracy, and issuance of senior transcripts and official graduation records. Oversee all high school scholarship programs and award processes in collaboration with principals. Organize and oversee annual high school academic awards, honors recognition, and academic distinction programs. Facilitate and oversee college readiness initiatives, including student visits to colleges and hosting college representatives. Ensure accurate maintenance and transfer of student records for both graduating and non-graduating students, including timely transmission to receiving schools.
  • Compliance & Testing: Oversee all standardized testing programs (e.g., Iowa Assessments, OST testing, ACT), including scheduling, coordination, and proper administration. Ensure full compliance with all testing protocols, security procedures, and governing guidelines. Lead the analysis, interpretation, and reporting of standardized testing data to inform instructional decisions and school improvement. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of all academic testing data in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Accreditation Leadership (ACSI): Accreditation Oversight: Lead and manage all aspects of accreditation and reaccreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Ensure ongoing compliance with ACSI standards and protocols. Serve as primary liaison with ACSI representatives and visiting teams. Self-Study & Documentation: Coordinate and oversee the school-wide self-study process. Guide faculty and staff in collecting, organizing, and submitting evidence. Compile, review, and submit accreditation reports and documentation. Complete required ACSI annual reports, progress reports, and periodic check-ins Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date accreditation records. Continuous School Improvement: Lead the development and implementation of school improvement plans. Monitor progress on goals identified through accreditation reviews. Ensure continuous alignment between academic programs and accreditation standards. Facilitate regular reviews of policies, procedures, and academic outcomes.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Partner closely with the Superintendent, school board and administrative team. Lead accreditation committees. Communicate accreditation updates to stakeholders. Support strategic planning and overall school-wide initiatives.
  • Additional Duties: Provide support for summer school and supplemental academic programs. Support school-wide initiatives and community events. Attend required faculty meetings and professional development sessions. Attend and support occasional evening and weekend events, such as open houses and other school-sponsored activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
