About The Position

The Dean provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation, operation, supervision, and evaluation of assigned programs and departments. This is a Full-Time Administrative position. Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends. May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various offsite locations, including local high schools in Alvin, Danbury, Manvel and Pearland and to Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities in Richmond, Rosharon or Lake Jackson. Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire. Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency." All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES®) in order to be considered for a faculty position. Applicants bear the responsibility of requesting, paying associated fees, and obtaining an original transcript evaluation for submission to the Office of Human Resources. Requirements

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of administrative experience in an educational, governmental, or business/industry setting
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level OR Three (3) years of CTE teaching or administrative experience
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with the American Association of Community Colleges’ Manager Level Competencies for Community College Leaders: 1) Institutional and Cultural Awareness, 2) Governance, Local, State and Federal Policy, 3) Student Success, 4) Leadership, 5) Institutional Transformation, 6) Fiscal Planning and Resource Development, 7) Advocacy, 8) Partnership and Collaboration, and 9) Communication.
  • Extensive experience in outcomes assessments required by state and regional accreditation with a focus on core curriculum assessment
  • Experience and proven skills in leadership, strategic planning, program and/or curriculum design and development, budget development and management, personnel hiring and evaluations, interpersonal relationships and conflict resolution
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instructional and administrative leadership for assigned departments, programs, and college-wide student success initiatives.
  • Participates as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team and represents the College at designated meetings and events.
  • Performs labor market research to ensure programs remain current with industry needs and identify new program opportunities.
  • Oversees the development, evaluation and revisions of academic and technical programs; appoints and engages with program advisory committees.
  • Ensures program compliance with SACSCOC, THECB, WECM, CTE Guidelines, and other accrediting agencies; coordinates discussions, meetings with, and prepares reports for accrediting agencies and external organizations.
  • Supervises, mentors and evaluates all assigned staff and full-time faculty, including Department Chairs or Program Directors.
  • Oversee Program Directors and Department chairs in hiring, supervision and evaluation of adjunct faculty.
  • Assesses instructional effectiveness and plans for continued improvement.
  • Develops, implements and manages departmental budgets and presents the annual budget to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Ensure faculty teaching loads comply with Board policy and administrative procedures and approve all full-time and adjunct payroll/compensation for assigned departments.
  • Oversees class schedules and faculty assignments to ensure student success.
  • Recruits employees in collaboration with HR, chairs screening committees for the selection of full-time staff and faculty and makes recommendations for final hiring decisions as appropriate.
  • Coordinates dual enrollment courses with area high schools in collaboration with the Dual Enrollment Department
  • Coordinates with the Dean of College Access Partnerships regarding pathways, prior learning assessments, and articulation agreements.
  • Develops, maintains and provides various reports in a timely manner.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with business and industry partners.
  • Coordinates with Texas Department of Criminal Justice Technical (TDCJ) Liaison regarding instructional issues at correctional units.
  • Works collaboratively to resolve conflicts and facilitate communication across college departments.
  • Identify, apply and oversee various grant and funding opportunities.
  • Oversees CEWD programs that align with Division IV
  • Other duties as assigned.
