About The Position

The Jim Pattison Auto Group is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and tech-savvy Accounting Assistant professional to join our Toyota on Regent dealership. In this role, you will support the Controller with accounting and administrative functions of the dealership while helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations. You will take pride in maintaining accurate records, supporting financial processes, and providing reliable administrative assistance. Your work will play an important role in keeping operations running efficiently and ensuring a high standard of accuracy across the dealership. This is a full-time, permanent position consisting of 40 hours per week. Regular scheduled hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Wages will be determined by selected candidates' knowledge and experience level. This role reports to the Controller of the dealership.

Requirements

  • Open to entry-level candidates with relevant accounting education or related experience
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong data entry and reconciliation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Professional and customer-focused approach when interacting with coworkers, clients, and vendors
  • Positive and courteous telephone etiquette
  • Successful candidates must complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and submit a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Follow dealership accounting policies and procedures while maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Assist the Controller with daily administrative and accounting functions
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and maintain related spreadsheets and reports
  • Verify and process invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals and authorizations are obtained
  • Process and reconcile AP and AR transactions
  • Review vendor statements and ensure payments are completed within dealership timelines
  • Communicate with vendors regarding overdue invoices and payment inquiries
  • Process vehicle sales transactions, including calculating gross profit and commissions
  • Complete MPI and other government related postings and remittances
  • Process payroll vouchers and assist with payroll related reconciliations
  • Reconcile discrepancies by reviewing and analyzing account data and ledger activity
  • Assist with month-end procedures, including account reconciliations, reporting, and preparation of month-end packages
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports and supporting documentation
  • Maintain organized filing systems for accounting and financial records
  • Provide front desk and reception coverage as required
