About The Position

Our client is seeking a Certified Teacher - Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Phoenix, AZ area. This role involves creating and implementing Individualized Education Plans for students with hearing impairments, teaching specialized lessons using sign language, auditory training, and assistive technologies, and regularly evaluating students' progress. The teacher will collaborate with other specialists to support student needs and ensure necessary accommodations are in place.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree – A degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Arizona teaching certification in Special Education or Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or another relevant form of sign language for communication with students.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement Individualized Education Plans for students with hearing impairments.
  • Teach specialized lessons to students using sign language, auditory training, and assistive technologies.
  • Regularly evaluate students' language development, communication skills, and academic performance.
  • Work with general education teachers, speech therapists, and other specialists to support student needs.
  • Ensure students have access to necessary accommodations, such as interpreters, hearing devices, and classroom modifications.
