BroadFutures' DC Summer Internship Program is a supportive, structured internship experience designed for motivated neurodivergent young people aged 18-26. The program combines paid internships with individualized coaching, professional training, and ongoing mentorship to help interns build confidence, workplace skills, and independence. Interns participate in a cohort-based experience that includes pre-program training, weekly professional development, and personalized support throughout the internship. Internships are intentionally matched based on each intern’s strengths, interests, and goals, with opportunities available across a wide range of sectors. All accepted participants are guaranteed an internship placement. The program is designed for neurodivergent young adults who are college-capable, motivated to grow professionally, and ready to gain meaningful real-world experience in a supportive environment. Internships take place in person throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The first week is comprehensive professional training. For the remainder of the program, participants are at their internship site Monday-Thursday (20 hours total) and in professional training with the intern cohort every Friday. Interns and employers receive both group and one-on-one support throughout the program. Stipends are equal to at least D.C. minimum wage. These are transitional work experiences, not intended to lead to full-time employment.
