About The Position

The DC Operations Coordinator - 1st Shift helps coordinate daily work volume and staffing to achieve departmental objectives in production, quality, and safety. This role communicates with the Coach and Operations Manager to ensure daily operational goals are met through effective management of people and process. The coordinator identifies and foresees issues and works to resolve them appropriately as they arise. They assign and realign work, particularly in the absence of the Coach. Duties may include allocation of work assignments, planning and releasing of waves, coordination of the toting process, coordinating the completion of route codes, and reassignment of team members to other roles. The coordinator partners with trainers and trainees on training/development plans and documents. They support workplace safety by helping to ensure safety-related rules and policies are observed (e.g., use of PPE, proper housekeeping, etc.). They also support start of shift and end of shift activities/reporting, including shift recaps, production logs, and shift handoffs. The role performs the department’s work as necessary and participates in special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the systems supporting department functions.
  • Previous experience in a Material Handler role (or comparable role), demonstrating an understanding of warehouse operations in a distribution center environment.
  • Understanding of the processes and policies related to the department.
  • Effective decision-making skills to provide appropriate direction to others and respond effectively to changing business requirements.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing/email.
  • Good listening skills to understand issues thoroughly.
  • Good organizational skills and time management abilities to help meet production timeframes/objectives.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to provide direction to the department as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Additional related training/education is a plus
