About The Position

Managing a 2 shift operation consisting of approximately 10-15 associates and functions within the Bloomfield Connecticut location. This role involves full ownership of running, leading, and managing the 20 hour a day/ 6 day a week operation of a 50,000 sq. foot warehouse distribution center for Mattresses and other bedding products. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, the ability to plan, budget, and supervise effectively, and work with Corporate Headquarters to ensure process synergies. This position requires direct oversight of all dock operations, all shifts, and all resources including personnel, trucks, and equipment. Accountability for asset management, inventory, and developing/implementing safety protocols (including OSHA compliance) are key. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, conducting quarterly inventories, ensuring security, supervising and training associates, and assisting with HR duties.

Requirements

  • Someone that will own this operation and make it their own.
  • Someone that understands the operation is in their hands and they must work whatever shift is necessary to keep the operations running as needed.
  • Fluent Communication in English.
  • Need someone that can train, educate, coach, lead and build a rock-solid team in the Bloomfield location.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment.
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with RF Guns and Inventory management systems.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Time management and multi-tasking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-Lingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Prefer a minimum of 5 years Warehouse/Distribution experience.
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years Supervisory/management.
  • Driver's License (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of running, leading, and managing the 20 hour a day/ 6 day a week operation of a 50,000 sq. foot warehouse distribution center for Mattresses and other bedding products.
  • Planning, budgeting, and effective supervision of approximately 2 Supervisors and 10-15 employees (warehouse workers and tractor-trailer driver).
  • Manage small number of seasonal contracted labor and temporary employees.
  • Work with Corporate Headquarters and main warehouse in Frederick, MD to ensure processes and building functionality and synergies between locations.
  • Direct all dock operations to ensure efficient operations, accurate inventories and accurate manifests of all outbound loads.
  • Overseeing all shifts necessary for the warehouse operations.
  • Responsible for all resources to include shipping and receiving workers, drivers, trucks and motorized equipment; ensure all are properly licensed and serviced for the safest more efficient operation.
  • Accountable for asset management and inventory of all company-owned products and equipment.
  • Develop and recommend improvements in current warehouse procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, safety and lower costs. Ensuring optimal utilization of all space within the warehouse.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment. Complying with all safety standards and guidelines (OSHA).
  • Responsible for overseeing DOT and OSHA compliance including current forklift certified operators.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Conduct quarterly inventory.
  • Responsible for the security of the Distribution Center when unoccupied.
  • Supervise, train, evaluate and motivate all associates.
  • Assign and schedule associates accordingly.
  • Communicate with Director on a daily basis.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all associates and vendors.
  • Relay all fleet maintenance concerns to Leasing agent daily.
  • Work extended hours and days as business needs require.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training (basic HR duties).
