About The Position

The Daytime Cafe Associate prepares and sells fudge and performs a range of restaurant functions at Ginna’s, including work on the deli line, as a barista, grill work, ice cream, baked goods, and other duties assigned by the Ginna’s Manager and Supervisors. The associate prepares different types of food, drinks, and ingredients and maintains knowledge of Gina’s recipes and prepared foods.

The role supports food safety, product receiving and storage, cash control, training of new associates, cleaning schedules, side work, and opening and closing procedures. Associates are expected to maintain a clean work area, follow Scheels policies and procedures, and contribute to a professional, respectful, and positive team environment. The schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school education; or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s, including use of American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees.
• Ability to work an assigned schedule that may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Consistently provide attentive customer service, including eye contact, a smile, and a genuine thank you.
• Approach tasks, projects, and follow-up communication with energy and urgency; show eagerness to become knowledgeable in the role.
• Show respect and appreciation for others and Scheels, and arrive to work and meetings 10 minutes early.

• Medium work: exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Follow safety procedures and perform duties in a manner that minimizes risk of injury.
• Be aware that food may contain or come into contact with common allergens, including dairy, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, and fish.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fudge products and sell them to customers.
• Perform Ginna’s restaurant functions, which may include deli line, barista, grill, ice cream, baked goods, fudge, and other duties assigned by Ginna’s Manager and Supervisors.
• Follow food safety guidelines established by state and local ordinances.
• Ensure products are received and stored according to Standard Operating Guidelines.
• Assist in training new associates using kitchen tools, mentor checklists, and Standard Operating Guidelines.
• Follow Scheels Cashier Guidelines for cash control and till management.
• Manage and support side work, daily and detail cleaning schedules, and opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain working knowledge of Gina’s recipes and prepared foods.
• Keep personal work space and surrounding areas orderly and exceptionally clean.
• Prepare different types of food, drinks, and ingredients.
• Follow Scheels policies and procedures and help maintain a positive, respectful team atmosphere.
