About The Position

Blair Animal Clinic & Klondike Kennels is looking for a Daycare & Playgroup Monitor to join the team at Klondike Canine Academy, the behavior and training branch of our practice. This role involves overseeing off-leash playgroups and daycare sessions, ensuring each dog has a safe, active, and enjoyable experience. The position offers a hands-on work environment with dogs, focusing on structured play to help them build confidence. The role may involve direct interaction with dogs, including activities like belly rubs and fetch, in a fun and active setting.

Requirements

  • Previous dog care experience preferred, such as dog walking, pet sitting, dog daycare, boarding kennel, or veterinary assistant experience
  • Strong desire to learn about canine behavior
  • Confidence walking and handling large dogs over 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work indoors and outdoors, even when the weather is not ideal
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, school breaks, and holidays
  • Genuine love for pets and willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
  • Dependability, patience, and attention to safety

Responsibilities

  • Supervise playgroups and daycare sessions to ensure a safe and positive experience
  • Monitor canine behavior and report changes or concerns to leadership
  • Engage with pet parents and provide updates on their dog’s progress
  • Help dogs stay active through guided play sessions
  • Clean and set up play areas and kennel runs
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Safely handle dogs of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments
  • Support a clean, organized, and positive daycare environment
