About The Position

At The Goddard School of South Loop, we are committed to providing a nurturing environment where children can explore and develop their creative talents. We offer a variety of enrichment programs to complement our high-quality childcare services, including music, dance, and theatre classes designed to foster creativity, confidence, and social skills. We are seeking a passionate and energetic Music, Dance, and Theatre Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and a strong background in performing arts. This role involves creating and implementing engaging curriculum for children aged 0-5 years old to introduce them to the joy of music, dance, and theatre in a fun and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching music, dance, and/or theatre to young children.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Dance, Theatre, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of music, dance, and theatre techniques.
  • Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Background check required.
  • Enthusiastic and creative with a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Patient, nurturing, and able to manage a classroom effectively.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the needs of individual children and the group as a whole.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a daycare or early childhood education setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans for music, dance, and theatre activities, tailoring lessons to meet the developmental needs and interests of each age group.
  • Teach and lead daily classes, including music, dance, and theatre sessions, utilizing various teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure active participation.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating atmosphere that encourages creativity and self-expression, fostering a love for the arts through interactive and hands-on activities.
  • Monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback and support to enhance their skills and confidence.
  • Work closely with other daycare staff to integrate arts programming with other areas of the curriculum, participating in team meetings and contributing to the overall development of the daycare’s programs.
  • Lead and showcase children's skills through performances to families in an annual show.
  • Act as a supporting teacher in classrooms as and when needed by the school.
  • Maintain open and regular communication with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress and participation in the arts programs.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all children, following all daycare policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
