About The Position

The Classroom Mentor/Coach (Curriculum Coordinator) provides instructional leadership, coaching, and curriculum support to daycare teachers and classroom staff. This position ensures that classroom practices, lesson planning, learning environments, and daily routines support the developmental, social-emotional, and educational needs of young children. The Curriculum Coordinator serves as a resource and mentor for teachers, helping staff implement developmentally appropriate curriculum while maintaining a safe, nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a licensed childcare, daycare, preschool, or early learning environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide supportive and constructive feedback to teaching staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, children, and families.
  • Must meet all applicable state childcare licensing requirements, including background checks, required training, certifications, and health/safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience creating, implementing, or coordinating early childhood curriculum preferred.
  • Previous classroom leadership, mentoring, coaching, or teacher-support experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, coach, and support classroom teachers and assistant teachers in effective teaching practices.
  • Provide guidance on lesson planning, curriculum implementation, classroom management, and child engagement.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants, toddlers, preschool, and/or Pre-K classrooms.
  • Review lesson plans and classroom activities to ensure alignment with developmental goals and program standards.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching.
  • Model effective teaching strategies, positive guidance, communication, and interactions with children.
  • Help teachers create engaging learning environments that promote cognitive, language, physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Support teachers in differentiating activities to meet individual children's developmental needs.
  • Maintain curriculum calendars, planning resources, lesson templates, and classroom materials.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new teachers and classroom staff.
  • Identify professional development needs and provide or coordinate training opportunities.
  • Promote consistency in curriculum implementation and classroom expectations across the center.
  • Collaborate with the Director and teaching team to address classroom challenges and develop solutions.
  • Support compliance with center policies, state licensing requirements, health and safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Assist with assessment, documentation, portfolios, and developmental progress tracking as required by the program.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with families when appropriate and in coordination with center leadership.
  • Participate in staff meetings, curriculum meetings, professional development, and center events.
  • Step into classrooms as needed to provide coverage, demonstrate best practices, or support teachers and children.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
