About The Position

This is a temporary summer position in the Day Warehouse. The role involves accurately, efficiently, and safely receiving incoming loads, processing bills of lading, and accounting for all items. You will generate product pick sheets or use an R.F. Gun to pick products and restock items for the Night Warehouse employees. Continuous improvement feedback and communication to management are encouraged. You will move product using forklifts and hand trucks, place product in designated areas on shelves or bins according to size, type, color, or product code, and assemble customer orders from stock for shipment. Physical inventory counts, basic housekeeping, and potentially basic maintenance and repairs within the warehouse and building are also part of the role. You may be required to assist with grounds maintenance, attend company meetings on non-scheduled work days, and assist with replacing or adding racking. Additionally, you might assist in delivering product to accounts and are required to work (regular or overtime) or provide on-call support on any day, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Must be able to work well independently and in the context of team environments
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Adhere to all safety procedures/standards as defined within the course of performing job duties
  • Language skills allow the employee to read and interpret documents such as: safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and practices essential
  • Must be self-motivated and disciplined
  • Time management skills essential
  • Forklift Certification required (must obtain within 90 days of hire)

  • Experience in a distribution and/or sales environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately, efficiently and safely receive incoming loads, process the bill of lading and account for all items on the bill of lading when product loads are received
  • Generate concise product pick sheets or utilize a R.F. Gun to assist in picking product, and restock items in a designated area to be picked by the Night Warehouse employees
  • Provide continuous improvement feedback and communication to management
  • Move product from one area of the warehouse to another using forklifts and hand trucks
  • Place product in designated areas on shelves or bins according to size, type and color or product code
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place in appropriate areas to be shipped
  • Conduct physical inventory count as needed
  • Perform basic housekeeping in assigned areas of the warehouse
  • Assist with basic maintenance and repairs within the warehouse and the building
  • Assist with grounds maintenance as needed
  • Attend company meetings on non-scheduled work days
  • Assist in replacing or adding racking when needed, where applicable
  • Assist in delivering product to accounts when needed, where applicable
  • Work (regular or overtime) or provide on call support on any day, may include nights, weekends and holidays
