About The Position

Serve as a Day-to-Day Substitute Teacher in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Perform all duties, as assigned, by the School Principal. Salary Schedule In accordance to Berkeley County Schools Substitute Teacher Pay Scale and phases. PLEASE NOTE that only teachers holding a full professional teaching certification or substitute permit issued before December 11, 2017, are eligible for advanced degrees/salary levels in the substitute pay scales (BA+,MA, MA+, PHD) as issued by the WVDE. After December 11, 2017, those individuals issued and working under a substitute permit are only eligible for the minimum degree level (BA00) required under WV Board of Education Policy 5202 for issuance of the permit or authorization regardless of their educational background. Due to a WVDE interpretation of policy, any individual holding a substitute permit may no longer apply for upgrade of advanced salary degree levels.

Requirements

Applicants must hold at least a 4 year Bachelor's Degree (min. 2.0 GPA) from an accredited institution.
Applicants must have already completed a county approved substitute training program within 1 calendar year OR hold a valid WV Substitute Permit issued by the WVDE OR hold a valid or expired (within 5 years) FULL teaching certification (provisional certifications/licenses, permits, and temporary certifications/licenses are not acceptable).
If you are not a fully certified teacher, you must have completed the substitute training class PRIOR to applying to this posting.
Those holding a full teaching certification that has been expired more than 5 years must complete a substitute training class prior to applying.
The applicant's teaching certification or substitute teacher training certificate must be disclosed in the application and attached as a PDF document.
Applicants who have been dismissed or have had their contracts non-renewed for cause are not eligible for consideration.
Applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration.
Applicants must complete the entire application and provide all documents required.
Failure to complete the application and provide requested items will result in the application not being considered.
NON-CERTIFIED APPLICANTS WHO HAVE NOT PROVIDED PROOF WITH THEIR APPLICATION OF COMPLETING A COUNTY APPROVED SUBSTITUTE TRAINING CLASS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.
