About The Position

Intercept Health is a family-owned Virginia agency serving mental and behavioral health, substance use, and foster care needs. As a Day Support Specialist for Youth Quest, you will serve as a positive role model for residents and help them develop socially effective values, attitudes, and behaviors. You will contribute to resident transitional living plans and assist with life-skills learning, transportation, and administrative duties. The role requires either a bachelor's degree in a human services field or a high school diploma plus at least one year of experience working with children and/or families.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in a human services field, such as Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Special Education; alternatively, a high school diploma and at least one year of experience working with children and/or families.
Good interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Use effective interpersonal communication to gain residents’ cooperation and resolve conflicts.
Interact with residents while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and avoiding personal or social self-disclosure.
Transport, accompany, and directly supervise residents during community outings, activities, and appointments.
Guide residents in personal hygiene and proper condominium care.
Assist residents with meal preparation.
Guide and instruct residents in housekeeping and laundry procedures, and review completion of weekly chores.
Apply the behavioral system fairly, firmly, and consistently.
Supervise medication administration as appropriate.
Check that residents are in their condominiums by curfew, working, or on an approved pass.
Document incidents in the communication log and contact the Life Skills Coach or Program Supervisor.
Maintain accurate and complete resident-chart information about behavior, critical incidents, AWOLs, restrictions, unusual sleep patterns, and other relevant matters.
