About The Position

This is an internal job posting for a Day Support Counsellor position with a Casual Call-In employment category. The successful candidate will be assigned to the Day Support program but may be reassigned to other locations within Residential Services. This position requires open availability for day and evening shifts, including same-day call-ins to support program needs. The role involves supporting individuals within various day support programs and community settings.

Requirements

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certifications required.
  • Current Safe Management certification is required.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Developmental Services, Human Services, PSW, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioural needs, personal care, or community programming is considered an asset.
  • Experience in day support, recreational, community, or group support settings is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support with activities of daily living, personal care, and personal hygiene as required.
  • Supporting individuals with recreational, educational, and community-based activities that promote meaningful and memorable days.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Support Plans and AIMS documentation as directed.
  • Completing accurate and timely documentation, communication logs, medication records, and data collection.
  • Supporting safe medication administration following CLSL policies and procedures.
  • Encouraging community involvement, independence, social inclusion, and personal choice.
  • Assisting individuals with behavioural, emotional, medical, or sensory support needs.
  • Ensuring a healthy, clean, respectful, and safe environment for individuals, staff, and visitors.
  • Responding appropriately in emergency, illness, injury, or crisis situations.
  • Working collaboratively with team members, families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Being flexible and reliable to support changing program and individual needs.
  • Transporting individuals to activities and appointments as required.
