Day Stocker
About The Position
As a Day Stocker at Hy-Vee, you help keep store shelves full, organized, and presentable while supporting a positive customer shopping experience. The role includes unloading trucks, stocking and rotating products, assisting customers, maintaining store cleanliness, and helping store operations run smoothly. Training and support are provided, and the position may involve assisting in other store areas and special projects as needed. The position is hourly and requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
- Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy store environment.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance.
- Ability to stand and walk continuously on hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service throughout the store.
- Help customers find products, reach items, carry heavy purchases, and relay feedback or requests to the team.
- Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate products to ensure freshness.
- Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and incorrect deliveries, and report issues.
- Organize stock for efficiency and clean and restock damaged items.
- Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers.
- Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input.
- Operate the register for customer purchases as needed.
- Stock cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies.
- Assist with outside maintenance, including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts.
- Clean throughout the store, including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroom.
- Train new day stockers on job duties as needed.
- Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
