About The Position

ACLD is a leading not-for-profit agency that assists children, teens, and adults in reaching the highest level of independence. We have great opportunities for positive, motivated individuals to work in a day hab setting assisting adults diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities in becoming self-sufficient and self-actualized. This is an entry-level career opportunity in the healthcare/education field.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Clean, valid NYS driver’s license.
• Minimum two (2) years driving experience.
• Complete (within six (6) months of hire) and maintain required training in SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention).
• The ability to assist with lifting and transferring a person.
• Must have flexibility to be reassigned to other programs and/or locations as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Some experience with developmentally disabled population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation to and from the day program.
• Assist the people we support in entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Monitor all passengers during transit for the purpose of ensuring safe transportation, including monitoring the continued use of seatbelts.
• Complete detailed, accurate documentation.
