Day Services Coordinator
About The Position
As part of our Adult Social Care team, you will support those who need us most, helping them to lead fulfilling, dignified lives. The Oakley Day Centre is a purpose-built day service for adults with learning disabilities, run as a needs-led service with activities planned using information gathered through Person Centred Plans. Examples of current activities include swimming, art, and relaxation. The Woodlands is an independent service situated in the grounds of Oakley Adult Opportunity Centre, also in Cheltenham. It is a purpose-built day service for adults with learning disabilities including Autism, complex needs, and behaviours that can challenge. The aims of this service include maximizing service user choice, independence, and inclusion. In this role, you will work with management and on your own initiative to encourage people to take part in sessions and activities to enhance their independence. You will also develop care plans and risk assessments to help people with their personal care and day-to-day needs. By working closely with parents, carers, and other professionals, you will help achieve positive outcomes for the people we care for. Our services are continuously evolving, and as such, this role and related responsibilities may be subject to minor change.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification
- Hands-on experience working with people who have physical, mental health or behavioural needs
- Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
- Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities, complex needs, and challenging behaviours
- Confident providing personal care
- Confident administering medication
- Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English
