About The Position

Employees are expected to practice the Recovery Model in all interactions with persons served. Interactions and interventions with persons served should be so embedded within the Recovery Model that an outside observer to Arundel Lodge should be able to recognize the core elements of the Recovery Model. These elements are non-linear and holistic and emphasize hope, personal responsibility, peer support, respect, empathy, non-stigmatizing language, empowerment, use of the strengths of persons served, and self-determination. Arundel Lodge provides initial and ongoing training and support to employees concerning the Recovery Model, and employees are evaluated on their use of the Recovery Model in performing their assigned job responsibilities. This position combines Day Program Rehabilitation Specialist responsibilities with limited case management services for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing persons served receiving offsite services.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals.
  • Understanding and application of the Recovery Model in practice.
  • Ability to develop curricula and lesson plans.
  • Willingness to provide transportation for clients.
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately and within specified timeframes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in case management.
  • Familiarity with COMAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Day Program skills training groups according to COMAR regulations, including Individual Mental Health, Family and Community Support, Community Integration Skills, Physical Health, Linkages/Case Management, Daily Living Skills, Social and Interpersonal Skills, Leisure and Recreation Skills, Diet and Health, Money Management, Work Readiness, Medication Monitoring, and Wellness and Recovery.
  • Developing recovery-focused curricula and lesson plans for each semester.
  • Meal Coverage.
  • Facilitating community integration outings as planned by the Program Manager.
  • Scheduling and coordinating non-traditional access goal classes as assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Completing daily class/group attendance documentation for all Day Program groups and submitting documentation to the Day Program Manager within 24 hours of group completion.
  • Completing Incident Report documentation and reporting incidents to the Incident Report and Information Line as defined by policy and procedure.
  • Providing support to persons served based on Recovery Model philosophy and providing direction consistent with this philosophy.
  • Providing crisis intervention support as needed.
  • Providing transportation for designated persons served to and from the Day Program, as assigned.
  • Providing case management support for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing persons served receiving offsite services, for up to 6 hours per week.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.
