About The Position
Bittersweet Farms is a nonprofit redefining what's possible for individuals with autism. Our mission is hands-on, immersive, and rooted in real human connection. This role is for Direct Support Professionals for our Day Program. It is not a desk job; you will spend your days helping adults with autism learn new skills, express themselves, connect with their community, and navigate daily life with confidence. Your work directly shapes someone’s day, their progress, and their sense of independence. Expect an active environment working on a functioning farm, hiking at Metroparks, gardening, horticulture, grounds work, and creative projects in art and culinary programs. Paid training is provided, and no background in this field is required.
Requirements
- Genuine empathy and respect for others
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Reliability Monday–Friday
- Patience, especially in challenging situations
- Strong, adaptable communication skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centered support with consistency and creativity
- Partner with participants to meet personal goals
- Document services accurately and on time
- Encourage independence, communication, and social engagement
- Assist with hygiene needs, which may include bathing, toileting, and managing bodily fluids
