About The Position

TURN Community Services in St. George is looking to hire a full-time Day Program Assistant to help our coordinator with various day program tasks. This human services position earns a competitive wage of $19/hour plus a sign-on bonus of $600, paid out over six months. TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. With locations from Brigham City to St. George, we offer a full range of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities. Requirements

  • 6+ months of experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities
  • Ability to complete required training within 3 months of employment
  • Personal and reliable transportation
  • Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record
  • Willing to drive large program buses and vans
  • Willing to train new employees to drive large vehicles
  • Functional computer skills
  • Ability to produce and review typed business letters, reports, and numerical records
  • Must be able to pass a background check upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute specific activities in areas such as personal hygiene care, moving or transfers, behavior management, medical needs, social skills, communication, safety, recreation and leisure, and independence skills.
  • Assist individuals in the program with personal hygiene care.
  • Provide frequent assistance with moving or transfers, which includes lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Assist with behavior management, medical needs, social skills, communication, safety, recreation and leisure, and various other skills to learn independence in their lives.
  • Plan and execute specific activities on a daily basis both in center and by following the community schedule.
  • Drive large program buses and vans.
  • Train new employees to drive large vehicles.
