About The Position

Lifesteps, a nonprofit human services organization serving Western Pennsylvania, is seeking multiple Program Aides in Butler, Pennsylvania. The organization provides programs and services to help people with special needs reach their fullest potential.

The Program Aide assists adults with special needs in activities including crafts, community outings, and life skills. The aide observes and reports participants’ accomplishments, helps maintain a safe and clean environment, and transports participants in an Agency vehicle for community-based learning, engagement, and recreational activities. The position is part-time, with a schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel using an Agency vehicle.
• Obtain and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification; training is offered by Lifesteps.
• First aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain and maintain certification within six months; training is offered by Lifesteps.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience working with individuals in the human services field.
• Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Certificate.
• Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in education, special education, sociology, social work, rehabilitation, counseling, therapy, transition programming, or another major.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist adults with special needs with crafts, community outings, and life-skills activities.

• Transport participants in an Agency vehicle for learning, engagement, and recreational activities.
