About The Position

The Seasonal Day Porter is responsible for delivering the FAO Schwarz brand to the team and guests by completing thorough housekeeping tasks in line with daily checklists. This part-time role ensures store standards remain impeccable throughout the day and maintains supply levels to complete the daily workload. The position may be assigned to a New York location, including the FAO Schwarz Flagship at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The role aligns with Level 1 in the company's Career Framework and provides a foundation for progression into Specialist roles (Level 2). The company seeks someone organized, dependable, and invested in helping the boutique run well. Other related functions may be assigned.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in a facilities or housekeeping role in a flagship or premium retail environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, twist, and stand for long periods.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal ability.
Ability to work at pace to achieve workload both out of hours and during trading times.
Flexible availability across days, evenings, and weekends in line with a flagship retail environment.

Nice To Haves

Retail or hospitality experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness throughout all store areas and break room areas.
Address maintenance or equipment issues at the point of contact, or escalate concerns to Leadership as needed.
Uphold safety standards by wearing protective equipment when necessary, using products and tools correctly, and following guidelines for mixing potentially hazardous chemicals.
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors daily.
Clean ceilings, vents, and visual props daily.
Clean restrooms routinely throughout the day.
Remove trash routinely from the store and break room and take it to the trash compactor.
Dust and clean all surfaces.
Maintain and upkeep cleaning equipment, supplies, and products.
Report needed repairs and safety issues encountered on the job.
Follow all health and safety guidelines.
Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
