About The Position

The Day Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall presentation of assigned commercial facilities throughout the day. This position provides ongoing cleaning and facility support in occupied environments, ensuring restrooms, common areas, entrances, floors, and other assigned spaces remain clean, orderly, and well-stocked. The Day Porter interacts regularly with building occupants, visitors, clients, and facility personnel and is expected to provide professional, courteous, and responsive service. The role requires strong attention to detail, dependability, the ability to work independently, and the ability to respond to changing cleaning needs throughout the day. The Day Porter must follow all company safety procedures and properly use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment. Requirements

Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the position, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting as required.
Ability to safely use common janitorial tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
Basic understanding of proper cleaning procedures and safe chemical handling.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple cleaning priorities throughout the day.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining established cleanliness standards.
Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, clients, visitors, and building occupants.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or facilities services.
Experience working in an occupied commercial facility.
Experience providing customer service in a professional environment.
Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment, including floor machines, vacuum cleaners, and carpet extractors.
OSHA or other workplace safety training.
Experience working in medical, office, educational, manufacturing, or other commercial facilities.
Ability to work varied schedules, including occasional weekends or holidays, based on client and facility requirements.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of assigned areas throughout the day.
Clean and maintain restrooms throughout the day, including cleaning floors, fixtures, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and other surfaces.
Monitor restroom conditions and replenish soap, paper products, and other supplies as needed.
Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and waste materials from assigned areas.
Monitor common areas, entrances, hallways, and high-traffic areas throughout the day and address cleaning needs as they arise.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and otherwise maintain assigned floors in a clean and attractive condition.
Clean and maintain entrance areas, lobbies, cafeterias, break rooms, and other common areas as assigned.
Assist with cafeteria cleaning, including wiping surfaces, cleaning floors, and removing trash as needed.
Keep building entrances, sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and other assigned exterior areas free of trash and litter.
Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, walls, partitions, equipment, and other assigned surfaces.
Clean interior glass, entrance windows, partitions, mirrors, and other glass surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces to maintain a professional appearance.
Empty and clean ash receptacles, where applicable.
Collect, sort, and properly handle recyclable materials in accordance with company procedures.
Monitor assigned areas for spills, hazards, damage, or maintenance concerns and promptly report issues to the supervisor or appropriate management.
Maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and communicate supply needs to the supervisor.
Safely use and maintain cleaning tools, equipment, and chemicals in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company safety procedures.
Follow all company, client, facility, and OSHA safety requirements applicable to the position.
In medical facilities, safely handle, transport, and dispose of waste in accordance with applicable regulations, facility requirements, and company procedures.
Maintain professional and courteous interactions with building occupants, visitors, clients, and team members.
Respond promptly and professionally to reasonable cleaning requests from building occupants, clients, or management.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
