About The Position

Direct Service Provider for Day Hab Program, Bilingual Mandarin/Cantonese. This role involves assisting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or mental health conditions to acquire and maintain essential life skills, enhance communication, and integrate into the community. The provider will support individuals in daily living activities, behavioral interventions, and documentation of services provided.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in either Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • NY State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals to acquire and maintain needed skills, such as responding to their name, making eye contact, increasing ability to attend to tasks, and labeling or identifying items.
  • Help individuals enhance their ability to communicate using verbal and nonverbal methods.
  • Work to achieve increased vocalization and assist individuals to express their needs and wants.
  • Use activity schedules and other techniques to support routines, reduce anxiety, and assist in transitions between activities.
  • Enhance access to community resources, such as shopping, dining, library visits, and attending local events.
  • Support individuals in participating in community outings of their choice.
  • Provide training and help with activities of daily living, including prevocational/job readiness skills, travel training, food preparation, and eating independently.
  • Identify and implement strategies for positive behavioral intervention, diminishing self-stimulating or injurious behaviors, and increasing awareness of danger and emergency procedures.
  • Complete necessary documentation for services provided, including goals worked on, activities engaged in, individual responses, and monthly progress reports.
