About The Position

This role is responsible for assisting in the management of the efficiency and optimal performance of the Lithia Springs and remote data centers. The technician will participate in activities to evaluate, configure, manage, and support all aspects of data centers. The position requires the individual to be within 45 minutes of the Switch location in Lithia Springs, Georgia, due to the need for emergency response and escorting third parties to the sites.

  • Ability to support scheduled maintenance activities and travel as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of servers, network cabling, and data center hardware.
  • Knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical and network system operations.
  • Knowledge of Network hardware including Cisco stackable switches, chassis switches, Enterprise routers, small remote routers, network communication protocols (BGP, TCP/IP, DHCP, etc.), network communication hardware (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, cabling, etc.), network topologies (Ethernet, VLANs, MPLS, VPNs, ISDN, etc.), network security infrastructure (Firewall Services Modules, exploits, viruses, etc.), server operating systems (Windows, Linux, Netware, etc.), directory services, integration and experience with network management systems similar to or including Nagios, SolarWinds Orion, Palo Alto Panorama, Live Action, and A10 Harmony Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and implements all data center processes and procedures using ITIL standards for incident, problem and change management.
  • Acts as primary technical contact for Data Center Services and CRES both as technical lead and local point of escalation during emergency events and day-to-day tasks.
  • Identifies trends and analyzes risks to articulate implications and impact to data center operations.
  • Tracks operational metrics and other data to provide Senior Management oversight for both snapshot data and long-term trend analysis.
  • Develops and implements strategies to future-proof the data center, ensuring scalability, resiliency and adaptability to emerging technologies and evolving business needs.
  • Recommends, creates, establishes, and executes policies and processes to align with corporate expectations and govern environmental conditions in the data centers and provides reporting on those conditions.
  • Coordinates with other IT Infrastructure teams to fulfill requests, perform changes and respond to incidents.
  • Works with various departments to improve, manage, update, and administer the DCIM tool.
  • Creates and reviews departmental operating procedures, as well as evaluates and documents process improvements, and conducts awareness training to all team members.
  • Mentors and trains staff in both areas of the data center: Facilities and IT processes and procedures.
  • Leads data center projects and coordinates projects with other departments and locations.
  • Responsible for configuring devices for initial installation and removal of device during decommissioning. To include installing baseline, assigning IP, updating DNS, and validating communication once connected.
