About The Position

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for Datacenter Infrastructure Design Manager to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, architecture, network engineering, construction engineering, building forensics, OR equivalent experience.
2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team design/construction projects.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of engineering, architecture, construction engineering.
5+ years experience leading cross discipline engineering / Architectural teams in design for construction projects.
Registered Professional Engineer or Architect
PMP certification

Responsibilities

Facilitation, delivery, and expansion of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter networking and telecommunication designs focusing on development and implementation in existing facilities and sites.
Development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from feasibility studies through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to Operations.
Provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter network infrastructure designs.
Oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects.
Engage with key Microsoft stakeholder groups as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.
Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
Collaborate with on-site operations teams to perform feasibility / gap analysis for conversion of existing datacenter spaces to new / upgraded uses.
