About The Position

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for Datacenter Infrastructure Design Manager to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, architecture, network engineering, construction engineering, building forensics, OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team design/construction projects.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of engineering, architecture, construction engineering.
  • 5+ years experience leading cross discipline engineering / Architectural teams in design for construction projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or Architect
  • PMP certification

Responsibilities

  • Facilitation, delivery, and expansion of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter networking and telecommunication designs focusing on development and implementation in existing facilities and sites.
  • Development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from feasibility studies through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to Operations.
  • Provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter network infrastructure designs.
  • Oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects.
  • Engage with key Microsoft stakeholder groups as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.
  • Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with on-site operations teams to perform feasibility / gap analysis for conversion of existing datacenter spaces to new / upgraded uses.
