Database Team Lead
About The Position
The Database Team Lead provides senior database administration and engineering support for customer applications at PL ALTESS. The role is responsible for engineering and administering database environments, including infrastructure architecture and installing and configuring database products across Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud environments. The position supports mission-critical Army IT services across enterprise data centers and cloud-hosted environments and requires strong DoD cybersecurity compliance knowledge. The position is remote-eligible. Candidates local to the Roanoke and Radford, Virginia area are encouraged to apply, and may work locally onsite or in a hybrid arrangement.
Requirements
- Experience in database administration and architecture.
- 10–15 years of relevant experience.
- Five or more years of experience with Application Server architecture in a large enterprise environment.
- Knowledge of Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database environments.
- Knowledge of database administration responsibilities.
- Ability to relate to customers in a professional manner.
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of Python and PowerShell.
- Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and IAVM.
Responsibilities
- Architect infrastructure and install and configure database software products across Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database environments.
- Maintain database environments to meet availability and performance standards.
- Assist in scheduling deployment activity and new database installations.
- Develop security standards and ensure databases meet ALTESS and Army security requirements.
- Develop and maintain database monitoring and administrative dashboards for proactive database management.
- Apply knowledge of Cyber Command STIG processes and procedures.
- Perform Security Readiness Reviews (SRR) and document findings in Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documentation.
