About The Position

The Database Team Lead brings senior database administration experience deploying and managing databases that support customer applications. The role is responsible for engineering and administering all facets of database environments at PL ALTESS, including architecting infrastructure and installing and configuring database software across Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database environments. The position supports mission-critical Army IT services across enterprise data centers and cloud-hosted environments, requiring database engineering and administration expertise and knowledge of DoD cybersecurity compliance.

This is a remote-eligible position. Local candidates in the Roanoke and Radford, Virginia area are encouraged to apply; work may also be performed locally in an on-site or hybrid arrangement.

Requirements

• Experience in database administration and architecture.
• 10–15 years of relevant experience.
• Five or more years of experience with Application Server architecture in a large enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database environments.
• Knowledge of database administration responsibilities.
• Ability to relate to customers in a professional manner.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Python and PowerShell.
• Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and IAVM.

Responsibilities

• Architect infrastructure and install and configure database software products across Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database environments.
• Maintain database environments to meet availability and performance standards.
• Assist in scheduling deployment activity and new database installations.
• Develop security standards and ensure all databases meet ALTESS and Army security requirements.
• Develop and maintain database monitoring and administrative dashboards for proactive database management.
• Apply knowledge of Cyber Command STIG processes and procedures.
• Perform Security Readiness Reviews (SRR) and document findings in Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documentation.
