About The Position

Concept Solutions, LLC is seeking a Database Engineer to support a mission-critical application modernization program for a Department of War customer. The program is modernizing access across production applications through a unified platform with single sign-on, a common user interface, and a repeatable approach to application integration, while sustaining existing applications during the modernization effort. The Database Engineer will administer and optimize three PostgreSQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS, support database migrations, and improve performance, availability, and reliability. The role works with the platform engineering team on projection schemas and change-data-capture configuration, and collaborates with technical teams to support modernization and ongoing production operations. This is a remote, full-time role with a 40-hour Monday-through-Friday schedule and core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern. The team works in two-week sprints and conducts a customer demonstration each sprint. Travel is 0–10% within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. U.S. citizenship is required, along with eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance; an active Secret clearance or higher is required as stated in the posting. The annual base salary is $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience.

Requirements

At least 4 years of experience administering PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
Hands-on experience with database migrations and performance tuning.
Experience with Amazon RDS or equivalent managed database services.
Active Secret security clearance or higher.
U.S. citizenship.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Debezium or PostgreSQL logical replication.
Familiarity with AWS GovCloud environments.

Responsibilities

Manage application-level database administration for three PostgreSQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS.
Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and optimization activities.
Verify database backups and support improvements to database availability and reliability, including a single-Availability Zone instance.
Support the platform engineering team with projection schemas and change-data-capture (CDC) configuration.
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure database solutions support application modernization and ongoing production operations.
