About The Position
Genesis10 is seeking a Database Engineer for a hybrid role with a Global Financial Institution in Charlotte, NC. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. The role involves the design, development, and review of all database changes, applying industry-accepted practices for DB design, normalization, and SQL/PL-SQL programming using an Agile methodology. The position requires a minimum of 3 days onsite per week.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer or similar role
- Experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience with MS SQL Server
- Expert-level proficiency in the latest Oracle Database version
- Proficiency in TOAD and similar tools
- Experience in OEM
- Proven experience in Database Design and Data modeling (ER Diagram and Normalization)
- Strong understanding of Oracle architecture, memory structure, and background processes
- Hands-on experience in performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and use of AWR, ASH, and Explain plan
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership capabilities
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working in the financial domain
- Knowledge of shell scripting or Python for automating database tasks
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools like Jenkins, GIT, and Datical
- Exposure to MongoDB
- Knowledge of data security, encryption, and compliance standards
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and review all database changes
- Apply industry-accepted design and development practices for database changes
- Perform DB design, normalization, and SQL/PL-SQL development
