About The Position

AGE Solutions is seeking a Database Engineer and Architect to create foundational data and database architectures for loading, integrating, managing, executing, governing, and maintaining critical medical logistics information. The role combines hands-on Oracle SQL and PL/SQL engineering with technical leadership in modernization toward PostgreSQL, Informatica-based integration, API-enabled services, containerized platforms, enterprise information modeling, lineage, data quality, and modern engineering practices. The position supports government and military medical supply-chain customers and helps shape future-state database and information architecture. The role covers architecture and engineering across transactional, analytical, semantic, integration, and enterprise information-delivery needs. It includes developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models; producing ERDs and architecture artifacts; translating business requirements into implementable designs; and ensuring data designs are traceable to enterprise concepts, authoritative sources, business rules, and information products. The engineer will also guide integration, data-access, governance, modernization, performance, and engineering standards. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, be able to achieve a NACLC clearance, and have at least five years of related experience. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite support at the client facility each Wednesday; the government may increase the onsite requirement. Work is primarily in a professional office environment, with occasional travel possible based on project needs.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to achieve a NACLC clearance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and architecting enterprise database and data-engineering solutions from business need and conceptual design through implementation.
  • Strong hands-on SQL and database engineering experience, including Oracle SQL/PL/SQL, and ability to architect solutions across multiple relational database technologies.
  • Experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical data architectures and translating business information requirements into implementable technical solutions.
  • Proficiency in database design and architecture, ERDs, data modeling, relational design, performance engineering, and complex SQL development.
  • Experience architecting enterprise ETL/data-integration solutions using Informatica or comparable enterprise integration technologies.
  • Understanding of modern data architecture patterns including PostgreSQL, APIs/data services, containerization, CI/CD, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
  • Experience with ERwin or comparable enterprise modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance principles and practices, including data stewardship, metadata management, data quality, lineage and traceability, authoritative data sources, information classification, and governance-driven architecture controls.
  • Hands-on PostgreSQL architecture, development, or Oracle-to-PostgreSQL modernization experience.
  • Experience defining API/service-oriented data-access and integration patterns.
  • Experience with semantic/information modeling, authoritative-source identification, metadata management, lineage, traceability, and change-impact analysis.
  • Experience establishing reusable database/data-engineering standards and architecture patterns across development teams.
  • Familiarity with modern data-storage and data-platform architectures, including object storage such as MinIO and platforms such as PostgreSQL, Azure SQL, Amazon Aurora, Snowflake, and Databricks, including architectural use cases, integration patterns, and tradeoffs.
  • Experience defining architecture patterns for modern .NET data access, including Entity Framework and ORM-based approaches, and guiding placement of data access, business logic, and transaction responsibilities across database, application, integration, and service layers.
  • Exposure to version control systems and development platforms such as Azure DevOps Server/TFS, Visual Studio, and Git.
  • Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a DoD or government contracting environment.
  • Military Medical Supply Chain experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD concepts or tools such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
  • Experience with DevOps/cloud services using an infrastructure-as-a-service provider such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as TFS, Jira, GitHub, or GitLab.
  • Experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube or Fortify.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business problems and define appropriate database and data architecture patterns, including relational, dimensional, denormalized, integration, and service-oriented approaches.
  • Define architecture patterns for transactional, analytical, semantic, integration, and enterprise information-delivery needs.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models, translating business concepts, rules, and relationships into implementable data structures and integration designs.
  • Create ERDs, data models, and architecture artifacts using enterprise modeling techniques and tools to communicate designs and support implementation teams.
  • Translate business needs into long-term architecture solutions and actionable SQL, database, integration, and data-service designs.
  • Ensure logical and physical data designs remain traceable to enterprise concepts, semantic definitions, authoritative sources, business rules, and consuming information products.
  • Architect enterprise data integration solutions and provide technical leadership for Informatica-based data movement, transformation, orchestration, quality, and source-to-target mapping.
  • Define API-driven and service-oriented data-access and integration patterns that reduce tightly coupled application-to-database dependencies.
  • Design solutions enabling end-to-end lineage, change-impact analysis, data quality, metadata, stewardship, governance, security, and authoritative-source management.
  • Analyze complex datasets and develop SQL, PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, views, and other database objects as needed.
  • Optimize database and data-engineering performance through effective design of indexes, constraints, partitions, sequences, query patterns, and integration workloads.
  • Assess legacy Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server implementations and define modernization strategies, including PostgreSQL migration, API/service enablement, modern integration patterns, and containerized deployment.
  • Establish and enforce database and data-engineering standards, design patterns, development practices, automated testing, and technical/code review processes.
  • Evaluate emerging database, integration, cloud, container, and data-platform technologies and recommend adoption aligned with enterprise architecture and modernization goals.
  • Support data-storage architecture, deployments, releases, testing, conversion, upgrades, production implementation, semantic modeling, and authoritative/master/reference data strategies.
