About The Position

Peregrine Advisors is a data and technology innovation hub and a Benefit Corporation working at the center of the federal government's mission. This role involves building and maintaining queries, stored procedures, and views for a federal agency's enterprise data platform, working with Amazon Aurora and associated platform stores. The position offers the opportunity to grow towards owning physical design and contributing to new capabilities and tools for the firm. Requirements

  • Sole United States citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.
  • Hybrid role requiring regular commuting into Washington, DC.
  • Solid SQL on a modern relational platform (Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL-compatible).
  • Experience writing stored procedures and views.
  • Proficiency in query tuning, data loading, and connectivity.
  • Experience with version control and clean delivery practices.
  • Drive to grow toward owning physical design.
  • Judgment to work where accuracy and auditability are critical.
  • 4+ years of database development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • SQL on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible).
  • Experience working with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables.
  • Experience with stored procedures, views, and query tuning.
  • Experience with data loading (S3 into the platform stores) and ODBC/JDBC connectivity.
  • Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Physical-design ownership of the Aurora and Iceberg stores, or the drive to grow into it.
  • Apache Ranger-governed access.
  • Federal information technology experience.
  • High-volume transaction experience.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain queries, stored procedures, and views on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible).
  • Work with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables to transform raw data into usable information.
  • Perform query tuning, S3 data loads into platform stores, and manage connectivity.
  • Ensure governed access to data.
  • Contribute to the development of new capabilities, tools, and lines of business for the firm.
  • Own outcomes and drive solutions for complex problems.
