The main function of a Database Administrator is to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals. This role involves providing database and system on-site support, monitoring system performance, and performing diagnostics and troubleshooting. The administrator will also be responsible for planning and executing software and database installations, configurations, upgrades, and patching, as well as managing system and database backups and performing manual switchovers in case of system failure. Additionally, the role requires serving as a primary contact for troubleshooting specific software issues, supporting data movement activities, documenting data management processes, and collaborating with the user community and suppliers. A key responsibility includes supporting global software events through regression testing and automating user identity and data storage audit workflows.
