Requirements
- Experience supporting Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL databases.
- Strong understanding of database design, development, and integration principles.
- Knowledge of ANSI Standard SQL and database administration best practices.
- Experience with database installation and configuration
- Experience with security hardening and patch management
- Experience with backup and recovery strategies
- Experience with database migrations and upgrades
- Experience with performance monitoring and tuning
- Familiarity with SQL Server Availability Groups (AGs)
- Familiarity with Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs)
- Familiarity with Oracle Data Guard
- Familiarity with MySQL replication technologies
- Experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience with Microsoft T-SQL
- Exposure to database administration tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Developer, TOAD, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Experience with Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, and Oracle Net Services.
- Understanding of virtualization, database consolidation, and cloud-ready architectures.
- Experience supporting Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows environments.
- Experience with VMware ESXi, SAN/NAS storage environments, and enterprise backup solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Adaptable to changing requirements and evolving operational priorities.
- Ability to excel in fast-paced, mission-focused environments.
- Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience (equivalent experience considered).
- 6-8 years of Database Administrator experience.
- US citizenship or Green Card holder
Nice To Haves
- PowerShell, VBScript, or batch scripting.

Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise database systems supporting mission-critical applications.
- Install, configure, upgrade, migrate, secure, patch, and optimize database environments.
- Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
- Support high-availability and disaster recovery architectures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and operational issues.
- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, engineers, and stakeholders across NASA.
- Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, shell scripting, or similar technologies.
- Document procedures, configurations, and operational processes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to incidents within established service level agreements (SLAs).
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and modernization efforts.
