About The Position

Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a Database Administrator for a potential contract. This role requires expertise in specific business processes, formulating systems scope and objectives aligned with the organization’s business plan and industry requirements. The Database Administrator will be a key member of a project team, providing technical guidance on the business implications of system applications, offering subject matter expertise in resolving database management issues, and managing milestone-driven activities. This is a remote opportunity supporting the DLA Financial Management Office, focusing on database architecture and development for an Oracle financial database intranet site. The objective is to develop reports using existing financial reporting data for an online web interface and create Online Transactional (OLT) Database applications for financial recordings.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Secret
  • Security Investigation: At least a Tier 3/NACLC/ANACI investigation (position is Moderate Risk, non‑Critical Sensitive, IT‑I).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Federal Government Audit Readiness & Reconciliation experience.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
  • Certifications and knowledge of the above-required applications per the DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level I.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with Source Control tools such as GIT.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Visual Basic, Oracle PL/SQL, Java, JavaScript, Oracle (Current version) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in Java, Python, WebLogic Scripting, Linux Shell scripting, C#, HTML/Javascript.
  • Perform Oracle database analysis tasks in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows development and production environments.
  • Utilize Oracle RDBMS, SQL, PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, and data access optimizations.
  • Perform data ETL into Oracle database on RHEL and Windows systems using PL/SQL, SQL Loader.
  • Work with ArcSight and Splunk.
  • Conduct analytical database work on large-scale application data models.
  • Manage Data mart population and dimensional models, including aggregation, partitioning, and indexing strategies.
  • Use data modeling tools like Erwin for logical and physical data model development and documentation.
  • Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • Work with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including shell scripting (Born, Korn shell).
  • Apply database performance and tuning techniques.
  • Perform database backups and recoveries from various situations (hot and cold backups).
  • Upgrade major releases of Oracle software.
  • Apply Oracle provided Critical Patch Update maintenance.
  • Work with current Oracle database and data warehousing features.
  • Perform physical database design.
  • Manage Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
  • Implement Oracle security management.
  • Implement Oracle data integrity.
  • Manage full project life cycle development including code migration, database change management, and data management.
  • Monitor and attain knowledge of current Oracle technologies with new version releases and provide COR verification for annual training related to current Oracle releases.
