About The Position

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services. This position, within the Agency Services area of DTMB, is for a Database Administrator responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing SQL Server database systems for test and development environments within MDHHS. Under the guidance of a senior-level DBA, the role involves database installation and configuration, design, development, deployment, performance monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, security design and implementation, and backup/recovery/data management. The position will contribute to implementing flexible, scalable, and reliable database environments primarily on Windows platforms, focusing on standard data management practices for software configuration, migrations, upgrades, management, hardware/software integration, security, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.
  • No specific type or amount of experience is required for the Bachelor's degree path.
  • Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician.
  • Two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • Completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500 (up to $1,250 upon hire and the remainder after 12 months). This does not apply to current state employees.
